Welcome!  Thanks for choosing Hasselt University!

You are sure to have a lot of questions about your registration. Below, you will find a lot of useful information that you should read before you continue.

By registering, you enter into a contract with Hasselt University. You can choose either a degree contract, if you follow a programme with the goal of obtaining a degree, or a credit contract if you only want to follow certain individual programme components with the goal of obtaining a credit certificate. You will attend all activities of the programme or course, with all possibilities of coaching and support.

You can also choose an exam contract if you would like to obtain a diploma or credit certificate, but do not wish to attend classes. You' will then rely on self-study to learn the exam material.

Are you registering for the first time?

A first registration takes place in two phases:

  • online pre-registration
    You pre-register online. You can pre-register online at home. You can upload a copy of your secondary education diploma, as well as your bachelor and possibly master diploma. Pre-registration is possible from 1 February to 15 October 2016. 
  • definitive registration
    You can register definitively starting from 1 July 2016. For your definitive registration, you will have to come to the Hasselt City Campus to sign your contract.

Location and accessibility Hasselt Campus

You can go to the registration desk in the Old Prison - Hasselt City Campus, every week day from 09:00 to 16:00, from 1 July to 8 July and from 16 August to 15 October. We're also open on Saturday 2 July and 3 September, from 09:00 to 12:00. We are closed from 9 July to 15 August.

What should you bring?

  • You only need to bring a copy of your diploma of secondary education if you weren't able to upload it when you pre-registered.
  • your identity card or passport

Additionally for:

  • students of Medicine: the original proof of passing the admission test for medicine
  • students with a foreign diploma: an approved admission request and the original diplomas and translations
  • students with a diploma from outside the Flemish community: proof that the language requirements have been met

How can you pay?

Upon registration, an advance is payable of € 230 for non-scholarship students and € 105 for (probable) scholarship students. Payment in cash is not possible.

From your second consecutive year at Hasselt University, you need to re-register.

Starting 11 July, you can re-register from your student file. After re-registering, you'll receive an email with the data needed to transfer an advance for the tuition fees. 

You should re-register as soon as possible, and certainly before the start of the academic year. Re-registering will not be possible after 15 October, because your user number and password will expire on that date.

After an interruption

If you have already been registered at Hasselt University in the past and want to register again after an interruption of your studies, you have to register at the registration desk in the Old Prison - City Campus Hasselt.

After your arrival, you have to register with the Student Administration (Martelarenlaan 42, 3500 Hasselt) to complete your registration and get your student card.
