Road Safety Training for Academics

From 15th September until 9th December Hasselt University Belgium will organize its fourth international training programme on road safety. This programme is entitled "Road Safety in Low and Middle Income Counties: Challenges and Strategies for Improvement". It is co-funded by the VLIR-UOS (Flemish InterUniversity Board - University Development Cooperation).
The programme consists of several modules (Transportation Research, Transport Systems & Transport Policy, Road Safety Evaluation, Traffic and Travel Behaviour, Behavioural Influence, etc), which are taught using a mix of lectures, active participation in work sessions, guest lectures and research sessions.
The guest lectures are offered by internationally renowned experts. The research sessions are presented by PhD students of the Transportation Research Institute who talk about the most recent research in their specific road safety domain.
The programme is supplemented with excursions in Belgium and the Netherlands to study good practices in road safety.
Towards the end of the programme, participants have to work on and present a portfolio, containing elements of all course units, applied to their home countries.
VLIR-UOS funds 13 scholarships to people who meet the scholarship eligibility criteria.
The application deadline is 17th April 2016.
