UHasselt and UM Maastricht

The transnational University Limburg (tUL) is a unique partnership between the UHasselt and the University Maastricht (UM) and can be considered as one university with a home in two countries. Therefore, it is an extraordinary example of internationalization of higher education in Europe: for the first time, one university conglomerate organizes research and education on two campuses in different Member States. In the tUL, UHasselt and UM commit both resources and complementarity of mutual expertise to start new trainings and research lines.

The tUL is working on the expansion of top research and of knowledge centers on a number of areas, namely in Life Sciences and ICT. In a globalizing economy, where the factor knowledge is more central, top research and knowledge centers are important stimuli for economic development of the region. A region that has knowledge centers in the area of Life Sciences and ICT, is a region with attraction to new hope worthy and knowledge-oriented companies. With the establishment of a Life Sciences Incubator in Maastricht and Diepenbeek, the explicit cooperation with the Science Park (especially ICT) in Diepenbeek and the structural interaction with the regional business, the knowledge institute tUL is an important economic impuls for the Euregion.

The tUL contributes to a broadening and deepening of the supply of higher education in the region and thus to an increase of the participation council in the universitary education in the Euregion.

UHasselt and TU Eindhoven

In spring 1998 the Limburg University Centre (now called UHasselt) concluded an arrangement with the Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e). Under this agreement UHasselt bachelor students in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry can continue their studies in Eindhoven, to become ingenieur after 3 more years of study.

UHasselt and RU Nijmegen

On december 3, 2007 the faculty Physics, Mathematics and IT of the Radboud University Nijmegen (RU Nijmegen) and the faculty Sciences of the UHasselt, signed a cooperation agreement. This signing took place in House De Corswarem in the town of Hasselt, in the presence of the Rector of UHasselt and the Dean of the faculty NWI of the RU Nijmegen.

Students of the faculty Business Economics have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs with the the Bishop's University Quebeq (Canada) and the Memorial University (Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada)
