Career Coaching @ Hasselt University: How to valorize my PhD? First aid in planning your career path Jul 03, 2014
dr. Stefanie KERKHOFS
“I have got my PhD, where do I go from here?” That’s a question that every young researcher is confronted with. A PhD degree opens up a wide range of avenues for excellent job opportunities. Pursuing a career in academia is only one of the options. In a climate of innovation and growth, young researchers are appreciated more and more in non-academic sectors. More and more young researchers therefore opt for a career outside the academic sector.
To help young researchers at Hasselt University to find their way around the different career options, Hasselt University, the VDAB and the innovation Centre of Limburg join their efforts in the project "How to valorize my PhD? First aid in planning your career path”. Within this project, we will offer each year 25 young researchers personal career coaching. Together with the VDAB you will define your competences, formulate your goals in order to define your career path and develop an action plan. In addition, Hasselt University together with the Innovation Centre of Limburg will organize twice a year an event where you, as a young potentials, will have the opportunity to get in contact with HR managers and employees from different companies.
For the personal Career Coaching, there will be four starting points during each academic year.
