autonomous vehicles network event Feb 16, 2016
The network event "Autonomous Vehicles" threw light on the state of the art and the future of the theme "autonomous vehicles" and was open to students and alumni of the bachelor/master in transportation sciences.
The event was kicked off by testimonies given by graduates of the master programme. Their experiences painted an interesting picture for the students who were present and allowed them to envisage their future careers. These testimonies also contained useful advice, e.g. how to find the sector that suits you the most, how to present yourself on the job market as a starter, in which sectors can a master of transportation sciences find a job?
The following alumni testified about their jobs:
- Kurt Marquet - ITS Belgium
- Pieter-Jan Lateur - NMBS Mobility
- Jochen Roosen - Stad Genk
- Dorien Steegmans - BIVV
- Elin Cosemans - Lokale Politie Antwerpen
- Liessa Iliaens - Agentschap Wegen & Verkeer
- Joris De Ceunynck - H. Essers
- Laura Sylvia Herman - MIVB
The alumni presentations were followed by an interactive network reception. After that, the floor was given to some distinguished guest speakers: Joost Vantomme (Director Public Affairs) and Steven Soens (Advisor Automotive Suppliers and Technical Committee) of FEBIAC, professor Stéphane Galland of the Belfort-Montbéliard University of Technology (France) and Marco Maréchal (Strategic advisor Connected Strategic Change Processes) of To Connect, talked about the impact autonomous vehicles will have on our personal and professional lives. They confirmed that the pending introduction of autonomous vehicles on our roads will offer our students many fascinating challenges to come.
