Good academic research is the basis for good academic education and is an important link in the innovation chain.
Hasselt University has chosen to invest a major part of its research resources in research institutes. On this way the appropriate critical mass is achieved for successful participation in interuniversity and international networks. The research institutes have the ambition to cover the whole research spectrum: fundamental research as well as strategic basic research and the realization of concrete applications. Innovative research and valorization of research are however important points of interest of the research policy. There is also support for excellent researchers who are active in thematic research clusters and in smaller research groups.
Our students and young researchers come in touch with the most recent scientific developments in their education topic and they study in an environment where the interest to corporate is high valued.
The research ambition of Hasselt University is on a professional and dynamic way supported by the Research Coordination Office and the Tech Transfer Office.
