THE SECRET OF THE CIVIC UNIVERSITY - BY JOHN GODDARD

On May 30, John Goddard will become honorary doctor of UHasselt. On Tuesday (May 29) he will give a lecture at Campus Diepenbeek. A unique opportunity to learn more on the Civic University.

Questions which Emeritus Professor Goddard (Newcastle University) will address during his lecture include: What is the Civic University? What is higher education’s engagement with the outside world all about? How to effectively encourage and support civic engagement within the organisation? What does it mean to be a researcher in the 21st century? And what are some of the world’s best practices when it comes to ‘university public engagement’?

This lecture will not only shed a light on the whole idea behind the Civic University, but also offer some insights and perspectives on ‘UHasselt as civic university’. Told by the man who earned worldwide academic acclaim on the matter! There will also be time for all your questions.

The lecture will be in English.
