Research in BIOMED focuses on molecular and cellular disease processes within the research domains immunology, neurosciences and cardiology. The latter takes place in close collaboration with clinical experts of Ziekenhuis Oost Limburg (ZOL) and Jessa ziekenhuis.
BIOMED invests in high level basic research and combined with translational programs that aim to develop an application for the benefit of the specific patient and of the health sector in general (from bench to bedside). Expertise within the field of bioimaging, biomarker and rehabilitation is used to reach the translational goal. BIOMED research is focused on multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, brain- and spinal cord injuries and epilepsy.
