IN THE PICTURE

1. Research data management (RDM)

In the last few years, an ever-growing list of research funders (e.g. Horizon 2020, BelSpo, FWO...) require researchers to describe their research data and data management in a funder-specific Data Management Plan (DMP). This is considered an essential part of high-quality research. In 2018, Hasselt University followed suit and published its own RDM policy plan, calling on researchers to produce and adhere to a DMP. The Hasselt University's Research Coordination Office (DOC) and Library (UBIB) support researchers with regards to RDM. Questions on funder RDM policies, basic concepts of RDM, FAIR data etc. can be directed to rdm@uhasselt.be, or to Anna Widyastuti (UBIB) and Simon D’haenens (DOC). Hanne Vlietinck (UBIB) offers support on more technical aspects of (meta)data, the Hasselt University Google Suite environment (Google Drive), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), data encryption and anonymization etc. You can also find a lot of information, guidelines and tools on the RDM website: https://bibliotheek.uhasselt.be/en/research-data-management

2. Grammarly premium version available for Hasselt University users

Hasselt University Library is pleased to offer UHasselt students, faculty, and staff free access to the premium version of Grammarly. Grammarly is an automated online writing support tool that does far more than just highlight grammar and spelling errors. The program offers contextual advice and suggestions for improving sentence structure, word choice, and style for all kinds of documents. It can even help prevent plagiarism by checking for unoriginal text against a database of 16 billion web pages and ProQuest’s databases. If you want to sign up, send an email to an.baeten@uhasselt.be using your UHasselt email address and ask for a Grammarly Premium account. Next, you will receive an automatically generated invitation email to create a Grammarly premium account (or to upgrade your freely available Grammarly account).

CALLS
