This newsletter provides an overview of all upcoming activities for PhD students organized by the doctoral schools, links to other potentially interesting events or information, and relevant calls.

More details on, and registration links for, upcoming activities are available on the websites of the doctoral schools. When you enrol for a doctoral school activity, please make sure to be present. You are allowed to cancel your enrolment up to 1 week before the activity by sending an e-mail to doctoralschools@uhasselt.be. In case of no-show or cancellation later than 1 week before the activity, a fee of 250 euros can be charged. Details

10. Modules on education

Most modules on education are organized in a demand-driven way by the Department educational excellence, professionalization and diversity. This means that instructors/professors can 'order' a tailor-made workshop on a specific topic for a specific group of interested people. However, they also have a limited open course offer. These open courses are announced by e-mail, as well as in this newsletter.

CALLS

1. Call for proposals for 2 researchers-in-residence at the KB National Library of the Netherlands in 2020

Are you an early career data scientist, social scientist, computer scientist, humanities scholar, or more simply put, a researcher working with or interested in our digital collections, such as the web archive, 100 million pages digitised text or ground-truth sets? Then this programme can be an opportunity for you!

2. International postdoctoral programma, IF@ULB

The Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB, Brussels, Belgium) is pleased to announce the opening of the second call of its international postdoctoral programme, IF@ULB, cofunded by the H2020 MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE COFUND scheme. IF@ULB offers a unique opportunity to recruit a total of 63 international postdoctoral researchers at ULB.

After the first call, fellowships were granted to 21 postdoctoral researchers and the first fellows already started their project on July 1, 2019. During the second call, 21 positions across all research fields are opened up. Each fellowship will be granted for two years and will include an individual career development programme. The second call for applications is open from June 15, 2019 with deadline on October 1, 2019.
