Welcome to the doctoral schools' newsletter which includes an overview of all upcoming activities for PhD students and postdocs.

More details on, and registration links for, upcoming activities are available on the websites of the doctoral schools. When you enrol for a doctoral school activity, please make sure to be present. You are allowed to cancel your enrolment up to 1 week before the activity by sending an e-mail to doctoralschools@uhasselt.be. In case of no-show or cancellation later than 1 week before the activity, a fee of 250 euros can be charged. Details

1. Fiscaal en sociaal statuut van doctorandi: bursalen versus assistenten (Dutch)

Takes place on May 23, 2018 - 10:00-12:00
Registration possible until May 8, 2018
This session is aimed at Flemish PhD students. Foreign PhD students who have specific questions with respect to their statute can send these to doctoralschools@uhasselt.be. Dependent on the number of questions, an additional information session may be organized.

2. Grow your future career

Takes place on June 11, 12 & 26, 2018 - 9:00-18:00 (Last session: 13:00-18:00)
Registration possible until May 13, 2018

3. PhD 2.0: What's next?

Takes place on June 18-19, 2018
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to doctoralschools@uhasselt.be, with subject: 'Application PhD 2.0: What's next?' before May 9. The e-mail should include a short motivation, your first name, last name, faculty, and start date PhD/postdoc.

Takes place on June 19, 2018 - 9:30-16:30

Takes place on July 3-4, 2018

7. Postgraduaat bedrijfskunde (SEE)

Takes place in academic year 2018-2019

8. Innovatief lesgeven & trainen - van ontwerp tot evaluatie (SEE)

Takes place in academic year 2018-2019

9. Modules on education

Since last year, most modules on education are organized in a demand-driven way. This means that instructors/professors can 'order' a tailor-made workshop on a specific topic for a specific group of interested people. However, there also is a limited open course offer. These open courses are announced by e-mail, as well as in this newsletter.

10. Flanders Training Network for Methodology and Statistics (FLAMES)

Courses on statistics and methodology, which take place throughout the academic year at all Flemish universities. Upcoming activities at Hasselt University:

- FLAMES Summer school: September 10-21, 2018 - Save the date

11. Flemish Supercomputer Centre (VSC)

Trainings on many HPC-related topics, which take place throughout the academic year

Doe mee aan de Vlaamse PhD Cup

Ben je in het voorbije anderhalf jaar tot doctor gepromoveerd? Dan daagt de Vlaamse PhD Cup je uit om je onderzoek met iedereen te delen: zonder voetnoten of specialistentaal, maar gebracht als een helder verhaal. Na een intensieve mediatraining volgt de ultieme test: “Kun jij de kern van je doctoraat in drie minuten uitleggen?”
