La Maison des Femmes is Building Beyond Borders’ first ‘real-life’ project and the whole process exceeds our expectations by far. Hearing from the participants’ unique learning moments, seeing their engagement, feeling the mutual respect between all actors and stakeholders, experiencing the women gleaming with pride,... convince us that the journey has been worthwhile.
This project is designed and built by the participants of the Building Beyond Borders postgraduate certificate (2018-2019) with the utmost dedication to the focus of the course, using local and vernacular materials and techniques and striving for a comfortable indoor climate and a smooth blending in its surroundings. It makes la Maison des Femmes a welcoming ‘house/home’ for the women of Ouled Merzoug.
