After graduating the Master of Science in Chemistry at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2010, Pieter Verstappen received an IWT doctoral fellowship and joined the group of Prof. W. Maes at Hasselt University to develop novel organic semiconducting materials for applications in thin-film (organic) photovoltaics, with a particular interest in morphology control and stabilization of the photoactive layer. After receiving his PhD in February 2015, he started working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Materials Research (IMO-IMOMEC) of Hasselt University where he is currently focusing on the development of novel organic semiconductors which allow the construction of (N)IR organic photodetectors. From October 2017, he will continue his work in the DSOS group as an FWO postdoctoral fellow.
