Dries Devisscher obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Hasselt University in 2013, after finishing a project on the acetylation of dithienopyrrole (toward polymer solar cell materials) in the group of Prof. dr W. Maes. He then started Master studies at Ghent University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2015. His Master thesis was conducted in the group of Prof. dr Peter Dubruel and dealt with pH-sensitive super absorbent hydrogels toward self-healing in concrete. He returned to Hasselt University in the fall of 2015 to start a PhD in the DSOS research group on a topic related to his Bachelor project, morphology control in organic photovoltaics. His main aim is to untangle structure-property relationships concerning the nanoscale mixing in bulk heterojunction solar cells by the synthesis of novel low bandgap copolymers.
