Mathias Kelchtermans received his BSc. in Chemistry from Hasselt University in 2011, after doing his bachelor thesis on the synthesis of functionalized polythiophene derivatives for organic photovoltaics. He then obtained his MSc. in Chemical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology. He performed a master thesis on diketopyrrolopyrrole-based small molecules for organic solar cells, which was published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A. Currently, he is working as a PhD student (IWT scholarship) on the synthesis of novel semiconducting porphyrin-based p- and n-type materials for organic photovoltaics and near-infrared organic photodetectors.
