MRS/E-MRS joint student chapter, Hasselt University with IMO-IMOMEC: 2016 materials science lecture series: advanced materials.
Speaker: Prof. dr. ir. Marc Debliquy - University of Mons.
Topic: Chemical sensors: functional materials wanted.
Chaired by: Prof. Dr. Wouter Maes, IMO-IMOMEC, Hasselt University
Wednesday 19 October 2016, 10:30 -11:30
Aula H4, building D, Hasselt University, Campus Diepenbeek.
The goal of the talk is to present the activities of the University of Mons in the field of chemical sensors.
In the Materials Science Department (part of the Faculty of Engineering), studies and developments on chemical sensors are conducted for several years. Their expertise is the development of sensitive materials (organic or inorganic) and their integration for the manufacturing of sensors. Several detection technologies are exploited: based on the changes in electrical properties (chemoresistors), on optical properties (refractive index changes for optical fiber sensors) or mass change (coatings on quartz microbalance).
There will be a short presentation of the working principles and theory, the materials, the developed applications and the future trends.
