PARTICLE SIZE ANALYSIS

Particle Size Distribution is measured of a powder or particles after dispersion in an non-solvent.  The dispersion is held in continuous motion using both ultrasonic and magnetic stirring.  A laser beam is sent through the solution and diffraction occurs.  From Bragg’s Law and mathematical modeling (MIE theory) particle diameter can be obtained within the range of 0,05 µm – 900 µm.
PSA curves allow determination of the particle size distribution and average particle size diameter.

Typical applications

  • PSA analysis of powders, inks, dust, residues from processing.
  • Particle size distribution for particles blocking nozzles, filters.
  • Evaluation of the micronized TiO2 particles in cosmetics and paints.
  • Evaluation of the particle size distribution of refractory particles as additives in plastics and composites.
