THERMOGRAVIMETRIC ANALYSIS/DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL ANALYSIS

Different thermal analysis is a thermal analytical technique in which the difference in temperature between a material and a reference material is measured as a function of temperature when both sample pans are subjected to a controlled temperature program and atmosphere.  The same sample is also subjected to a TG analysis (see TGA).  For the same run two thermograms are obtained: TG/DTG curves and the DTA thermograms.
Temperature range: RT-1500°C
Heating rate: 0.1- 100°C/min (1000°C) and 0.1- 25°C/min (1500°C)

Typical applications

  • Study of the degradation kinetics of materials: as well mass losses as well endothermal and exothermal transitions during the thermal treatment.
  • Study of decomposition of inorganic materials.
  • Study of sintering processes
  • Study of transitions within inorganic materials and composites
