Prof. Dr Nicolas Saunier from Polytechnique Montréal (Canada) will give a guest lecture on 'Surrogate safety measures'. Doctoral students will receive DS portfolio credits for attending.
Traffic conflicts were conceptualized in the late 1960s, and traffic conflict techniques developed in several countries over the next decades. They have been slowly automated since 2000 with the availability of computer vision techniques. This talk will cover the current state of research in surrogate measures of safety and various case studies, as well as provide a perspective over the evolution of the field since I started my PhD in 2001.
