Love2Truck: Who will be Belgium’s most passionate truck driver?

Brussels, January 15, 2018 – As of today, several leading actors of the Belgian transport sector joined forces to find Belgium’s most passionate truck driver. To achieve this goal, they launch a large-scale campaign ‘Love2truck’ through social media and the new website www.love2truck.be. Candidates will be encouraged to sign up and to motivate their candidacy with a highly authentic story about the passion for their job. On June 2, 2018, the most passionate truck driver will be selected among these warm stories. These campaign aims to reach as many passionate truck drivers possible, but also, using these positive stories, to excite others for this job.

Warm stories
A large-scale transport research indicated that Belgian truck drivers are proud of their job1. With the campaign ‘Love2Truck’, the initiators actively search for these proud drivers and their warm, passionate stories, during the first months in 2018. Who are they? What do they do? And more importantly: why are they so passionate about their job?

Necessity
Passion wasn’t the only motive that led to this campaign. The sector is in urgent need of truck drivers, as the profession is recognized as a so-called bottleneck profession2 for many years due to the persistent lack of truck drivers. That is one of the conclusions of a study conducted in November 2017. This study has also shown that the shortage strongly prevents Belgian transport companies from growing economically.

Campaign faces
Three passionate truck drivers will act as the face of the campaign Love2Truck: Danny Das of Withofs Transport, Omer Uzun of Van Moer Logistics and Griet Aerts of Meers Transport. With these three campaign faces, the initiators want to emphasize the fact that the campaign is open for EVERYONE in the Belgian transport sector.

This campaign is an initiative of DKV Euro Service, Go4Logistics, Randstad, Renault Trucks, Suivo Telematics, TRANSPORT EN LOGISTIEK VLAANDEREN, TRANSPORTMEDIA, TVM Belgium and Transportation Research Institute (IMOB, UHasselt).

Timing

  • The campaign will be launched on Monday January 15, 2018
  • Truck drivers can sign up until March 31, 2018, through the website www.love2truck.be.
  • Five finalists will be selected among all applicatants.
  • The public can vote from April 15 to May 31, 2018.
  • The winner will be announced on Saturday June 2, 2018, during the exhibition We are Transport that is organized by Transport en Logistiek Vlaanderen in cooperation with Febiac in Brussels Expo.
