From sinking of the mine to drinking water
Nowhere else in Limburg is the sinking of the mine as visible as in Eisden-Dorp.
The 'sunken' village lies, as a result from the mining in the past, lower than the water level of the canal.
As Eisden-Dorp sunk, the dikes of the canal were raised again and again. But even then the water needs to be pumped away to make sure Eisden-Dorp doesn't get flooded.
The hike will get you through nature reserve 'Greven' and an exclusive visit to the water production centre.
