The BOF Sabbatical Leave programme provides research grants intended to cover costs related to an intense period of research activity (three to twelve months) abroad. The stay of the researcher outside Hasselt University has to be part of the scientific research within his or her research group or institute. The BOF funding serves as cofinancing of the external funding.
This fund is intended for tenure-track assistant professors and independent academic staff members (ZAP). Applications are submitted by the person concerned, who must be a member of the independent academic staff (ZAP) of Hasselt University and has at least a 60 percent appointment. An approved application for external funding (FWO, VLIR …) is required.
Applications for a BOF sabbatical leave can, depending on the available funds, be submitted three times a year, on 1 February, 15 May and 1 October, using the application form. Should the deadline fall on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the deadline is moved to the next working day at 5 pm.
