In light of the current and expected situation concerning the further spread of COVID-19, the Executive Board has decided to issue a general ban with immediate effect for all trips abroad for the purpose of study and work-related activities. This travel ban will apply until 19 April 2020. The situation will be reassessed after this date.
This travel ban applies to all inbound and outbound travel and to both students as well as staff members. Each person will make maximum use of teleconferencing.
Until further notice, the only exceptions to the travel ban are:
- transport between UHasselt and Maastricht University as part of the collaborations in the tUL programmes and related activities.
- Exceptional business trips for which explicit permission has been granted by the Vice-Rector for Research & Internationalisation (staff only).
- Incoming travel for students or staff members of UHasselt who have their residence in Belgium, provided that the guidelines concerning possible quarantine are respected.
For staff members, possible cancellation costs and other costs caused by this travel ban for educational and research-related travel will be borne at the cost centre to which the respective travel costs would initially have been booked. For students, a financial arrangement will be drawn up based on the principle of shared responsibility.
Next to a travel ban for professional purposes, we also advise our staff members to limit foreign private travel to a minimum.
Questions regarding the stricter travel policy can be addressed to the International Office via firstname.lastname@example.org or 011 26 90 09.
We are counting on everyone’s understanding and cooperation to strictly follow this travel ban for international business trips.
