UHASSELT LAUNCHES RELAB Nov 30, 2018
Prof. dr. Annick TIMMERMANS
Yesterday UHasselt officially launched ReLab, the academic innovation laboratory of the Limburg Clinical Research Program and Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences. A place where scientific expertise is made available to treat patients with complex rehabilitation problems and where companies and the healthcare sector can ask for support.
ADVISING THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR
“Sharing your unique expertise creates a lasting legacy.” – Marsha Blackburn.
“The goal of ReLab is to offer our academic expertise, with regards to neurology, musculoskeletal and internal conditions, to the healthcare sector. In addition to this, we also service our knowledge about the impact of wellbeing and stress levels on rehabilitation”, Prof. Annick Timmermans explains. “As a result, physiotherapists and physicians can refer patients with complex problems to us for further clinical investigations, which are done in close collaboration with the specialists from Hospital East-Limburg and Jessa Hospital.”
“In addition to this, ReLab also offers its services to companies and stakeholders within the healthcare sector. We support them with their product development and valorization, for example, a new app or exoskeleton, as well as coach them when they want to implement new therapies and want to see if everything is up to date with the latest developments within rehabilitation. The only requirement is that it needs to fit within our vision: it needs to have a positive effect for the patient.”
