Uniek internationaal Benjamin Hermans |
I have enrolled on The OpenBordersMBA in order to:
As a graduate in technical engineering with extensive experience gained in various positions held in Germany and Europe, I already have fairly good language skills but I am especially interested in expanding my know-how and international contacts. The OpenBordersMBA offers the opportunity to develop my career while taking up new challenges in the company I am with. I enjoy cooperating with students and lecturers of varied and multicultural backgrounds and look upon this as a great opportunity to get to know many strong companies within the international environment of the Euregio.

I'm very happy to have got the opportunity to take part to the OBMBA course program. As an insurance broker, it gives me a better understanding of the core concern of my business partners, most of whom are chief executive officers. I now feel much better equipped to understand their priorities and prepare a better operational plan for them. Being a genuine business partner for my clients naturally also benefits my company. |
I was 18 when I chose to study Industrial Engineering in order to apply sciences to industry. Over my fourteen years’ career within the same telecom company I’ve held various functions in engineering, sales support and project delivery for the African region, which all contributed to confirm my interest in what drives telecom operators. As a Senior Solution Consultant for the outsourcing of operations, I have had to deal with several aspects of transition and transformation, e.g. legal and financial aspects, human resources, operations, organization etc. As a chance to expand my knowledge in these areas, I find the OpenBordersMBA program a best-fit. The opportunity to use and improve my language skills and the program’s attractive environment as well played an important role in my decision to join. The program teaches me what drives large companies and enables me to improve the outsourcing solutions we offer them.

"Contributing in the OpenBordersMBA is very inspiring for me in many ways. Bringing together students with diverse backgrounds from different regions ensures a variety of perspectives and stimulating discussions. Also, the involvement of practitioners enriches the curriculum and aligns it with the demands of practice. Moreover, the collaboration with professors of other universities brings new impetus for both research and the design of future Study Programs. "

"How could a new MBA make its path in a saturated market?” I have wondered about it with a dose of skepticism fueled by my 4-year INSEAD experience, whose MBA degree has been the flagship for more than half a century. But I have taken notice of the intelligence of the program’s positioning at the geographical (internationalization naturally comes from the cross-border, cultural and linguistic exchanges that the program produces), philosophical (it is above all a training, and the degree is only the consequence) as well as functional (the structure articulates around competencies that are genuinely useful to the managers within their environment) levels. Understanding the business context, digest it, and translate it into concrete decision making, this makes sense. Confronted to the project’s realism and honesty, my only option is to give the best of myself. My goal: to let managers understand the implications of finance, which is global by essence, to integrate this reality into a personal and managerial mindset. And to take part to the development of one’s Alma Mater MBA, what a challenge!”

Experten aan het woord
"For me, teaching at the OpenBordersMBA program is a highly welcome opportunity to share my practical experiences in the fields of market research and consulting with young executives in an cross-border program. Based on my experiences in another cross-border MBA program I am looking forward to challenging and inspiring training sessions and discussions with highly motivated and talented young managers in a highly interactive and challenging training program with practical cases and examples. Furthermore the program is of course an interesting opportunity to meet interesting potential business contacts. "
