'Scientific cooperation with Japan' is a scientific exchange programme of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) in cooperation with the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). This programme supports two-year joint research projects and covers travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses.
- FWO offers researchers from Flanders a daily living allowance of €66,00 and pays the travel expenses towards/from Japan (to be booked through Omnia Travel)
- JSPS pays the researchers from Japan a total amount of maximim 2,500,000 JPY per year (for the travel expenses and the stay within Flanders).
Start of project: 1st of April 2023.
Candidates hold a PhD and have, throughout the entire period of the project, an appointment of at least 50% at:
- a Flemish university;
- a federal or Flemish scientific institute;
- a university hospital;
- a hospital with an academic character recognized as research center in the Flemish Community.
Proposals must be submitted simultaneously to FWO and JSPS, according to the modalities of each agency. The FWO application template can be found on the FWO website
