Research

Funding organisation:

Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen

What?

Since the autumn of 2016 the FWO offers ‘grants for a long stay at an ERC Grantee abroad’. This gives researchers who are planning to submit an ERC grant the opportunity to perform research within the research environment of a current or previous ERC grantee. This travel grant has a minimum and maximum duration of 3 and 6 months respectively. Purpose of this long stay abroad is to further sharpen your foreign research experience and optimize your research profile. The stay should act as a thorough preparation of your ERC grant application (starting, consolidator or advanced grant). A list of ERC Grantees that are willing to welcome researchers from the Flemish Community can be found on the FWO website. The grant covers travel expenses and a fixed allowance of € 66 per day.

Who?

Candidates are postdoctoral researchers who have an appointment of minimum 50% at a Flemish university or scientific institute.
Candidates are obliged to submit an ERC application within the two ERC-calls after return.

Application?

You submit your application in English, using the application form. Please send in your application no later than 3 months prior to the departure date.
The following documents should be attached:
  • invitation letter of the foreign host institution
  • a recommendation letter of the foreign researcher who will be hosting you
