What?

M-ERA.NET supports ambitious, transnational R&D projects on material innovation, with a focus on energy-related applications.

The Call 2022 includes the following thematic areas:

• Materials for energy
• Innovative surfaces, coatings, and interfaces
• High performance composites
• Functional materials
• New strategies for advanced material-based technologies for health applications
• Materials for electronics

VLAIO provides a budget of 1 million euros for the financing of the Flemish share of M-ERA.NET projects. The support channels for research and development projects are used for this. The maximum support for Flemish participation in a M-ERA.NET project is limited to 500,000 euros.

Funding rates are 50-60%, depending on the type of R&D. For projects including both a Flemish company and a Flemish university, this can go up to maximum 70% for basic research and 60% for development. 

Who?

M-ERA.NET will enable collaboration between leading academic and industrial research partners from European and non-European countries and regions and will facilitate access to previously inaccessible new markets.

A M-ERA.NET project consortium consits of at least 3 partners from three different countries or regions. For each country or region, specific criteria apply. There is no hard limit on the number of Flemish research partners participating in an M-ERA.NET project. A typical M-ERA.NET project has 3 to 4 partners on average.

Application?

The projectleader of the international M-ERA.NET-project should sumbit the pre-proposal with M-ERA.NET by the 15th of June 2022, at 12:00. Additionally, a Flemish participant has to fill in a Flemish application for VLAIO. Select 'international project' and download the appropriate template. This needs to be submitted by the 15th of June 2022, at 12:00 as well.

The deadline for the full proposal is the 17th of November 2022, at 12:00.
