Info session: Introduction to computational science/supercomputer & makerspace

Content

Geert Jan Bex, HPC analyst/consultant Hasselt University
Researchers from almost all scientific fields increasingly turn to the use of high performance computer infrastructure to solve computationally or data intensive tasks. In this information session you will be introduced to the infrastructure and services available to you, and see some illustrating examples of its use in various fields.

Tom De Weyer, Coordinator Makerspace PXL-UHasselt
In this information session we will introduce the different machines and possibilities available at the Makerspace. This lab can be used to support your research in creating lab setups and much more.

Competences

An important part of preparing for any further professional step is becoming (more) aware of the competences you have developed and/or want to develop. In the current workshop, the following competences from the UHasselt competency overview are actively dealt with:

  • academic research competences
    • research methods
    • subject knowledge
