Working together with other students from different faculties on the same project in a developing country during the summer… does that sound like something to you? Then take a quick look at how an Interdisciplinary International Internship, in short INT³, can be interesting for you!
At UHasselt we believe that our students are all 'Global Citizens'. An interesting way to become acquainted with this is an internship in a developing country. Yet such an internship is quite a challenge: different language, different culture, different customs, away from your friends, your love, your family…. While it is a very great added value for your employability skills in the future! In an increasingly globalized world, “interpersonal” and “intercultural” skills are becoming indispensable. Moreover, the personal growth you experience is a real enrichment, which gives you a step ahead both personally and professionally.
The International Office collaborates with a group of faculty members (academic and administrative staff) and the education department to develop a new extracurricular course. During this extracurricular course students are taught how to work innovatively in multidisciplinary teams in an international context on topics related to sustainable global challenges. For the academic years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 the group works on the interdisciplinary project “Solar Cookers for all”.
Linked to this interdisciplinary project “Solar Cookers for all” the international office organizes in the academic year 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 during the month of July an Interdisciplinary International Internship at the University of Lubumbashi in DR Congo to further develop the solar cooker project.
