Exploiting real time animation specification for traditional animation (ERASTA).
Animation sequences in various forms will soon become a standard element of multimedia (MM) productions. Competition between MM production houses, especially form the USA, is forcing this evolution. As the realisation of good animation sequences is often a very tedious and labour-intensive task, it is worthwhile to take recourse to tools improving the production process. The ERASTA-project will contribute to this solution, through the development of better tools for different kinds of animation types and through the setting up of services oriented towards MM production houses, especially SME's, who could benefit from the use of supercomputers for fast realisation of 2D animation sequences.
