SUPERCT: Speeded Up Processing and Reconstruction of Tomograms (Research)
Abstract
This project aims to accelerate reconstruction and processing of tomographic images, which iteratively uses forward and back projections. Such operations are fortunately very suitable for parallelization. Today, hardware, originally meant for computationally demanding 3D games, is effectively used for other tasks. Graphical Processing Units (GPUs), for example, were specially designed for a high parallelism and are well suited for iterative reconstruction and processing.
