The Flemish Doctoral Schools organize a four-day summer school on “Functional Coatings”. During this summer school, the latest topics in ink formulation, coating chemistry and functional coating engineering will be discussed. International experts in their fields, doctoral students and postdocs will cover industrial as well as academic research.
September 24-27, 2018
The summer school offers an overview over the most recent research topics on materials applied for functional coatings, coating deposition techniques and examples of the broad range of applications that can be envisaged.
On Monday, international academic/industrial experts will provide you with masterclasses on coating formulations, technology and applications. The masterclass speakers and their respective topics can be found here.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, a two-day conference will take place addressing four main topics related to Functional Coatings during half a day:
- Coating formulation and chemistry
- Substrate preparation
- Applications for coatings
- Coating characterization
Each topic will be introduced by a keynote lecture followed by selected oral presentations from PhD-students and postdocs. More information on how to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation can be found on the Registration page. A list of confirmed keynote speakers and the current program can be found here.
On the last day, hands-on labs are organized that will take place in Diepenbeek (UHasselt), Leuven (KULeuven) and Brussels (VUB). More information on these hands-on labs can be found here. Note that places for these labs are limited and we use the “first-come-first-serve” principle.
The summer school is directed to PhD students and postdocs from Flemish universities, but also (master) students from other neighbouring universities and research institutions are welcome. The summer school will specifically address industrial researchers active in functional coatings and those interested in functional coating research and development. The summer school is free of charge for Flemish master, PhD and postdoc researchers. Other applicants pay a fee of €250 for the complete program (excluding hotel costs). Participation in only a masterclass is possible at a charge of €100/masterclass. Here you can find the registration page.
