It is well known that factors of the local microenvironment could critically modulate immune reactions and subsequently disease. However, the role of electrolytes in this process is less well understood. The symposia will deal with the latest developments on the influence of the ionic microenvironment on gut microbiota, innate and adaptive immunity and its potential impact on infection, autoimmunity and metabolic/cardiovascular diseases. Excellent international speakers will explain during this symposium their latest results on this topic.
The mini-symposium will take place on October 25th 2018 at Hasselt University, Oude Gevangenis, Campus Hasselt, Martelarenlaan 42, 3500 Hasselt.
Participation is free of charge, but online registration is obligatory before October 21st.
