Submitting a contribution is no longer possible for both national and international submissions. But of course you can still register to participate in the conference!

Submissions

The conference will feature both scientific and practitioner sessions, providing a well-rounded and comprehensive exploration of shaping higher education with impact. Scientific sessions will focus on presenting the latest research, findings, and theories related to higher education. These sessions will provide a platform for scholars to share their work, collaborate, and engage in critical discussions about the role of higher education in shaping a better future. Practitioner sessions will focus on real-world applications and practical solutions to the challenges faced by educators, students, and communities. These sessions will feature professionals, administrators, and practitioners who will share and discuss their insights, best practices, and innovative approaches to higher education.

The conference will feature five types of sessions, each with a distinct focus.

Paper presentation

Focus: Scientific

Description

In a paper presentation you will present your latest research and findings related to higher education. The focus of these sessions will be on scientific exploration, with participants sharing their research and engaging in critical discussions about higher education. Each session will consist of three papers with a related subject. A session is scheduled for 30 minutes.

The submission should include

  • a short abstract (max. 250 characters) and
  • an extended summary (max. 750 words) and
  • a response to the question: ‘How does your contribution on higher education generate an impact in the field? (max. 100 words)’.

Poster presentation

Focus: Scientific, practitioner

Description

This session provides an opportunity for researchers, administrators, educators, and students to present their work, results and conclusions. Presenters can engage in discussions with other attendees. The focus of these sessions will be on both scientific and practitioner perspectives. All poster sessions are organised together during a parallel timeslot of 60 minutes.

The submission should include

  • a short abstract (max. 250 characters) and
  • an extended summary (max. 750 words) and
  • a response to the question: ‘How does your contribution on higher education generate an impact in the field?’ (max. 100 words).

Practical

The ideal size to print your poster is A1. Print your poster preferably in color as well. Poster panels will be provided.

If desired, you can also have your poster printed and picked up at Drukpunt Hasselt. This is located within walking distance of the campus (150 meters).

Practice boost

Focus: Practitioner

Description

In this format, presenters share a good practice, explain how this could be inspirational to others and discuss how this can be further improved with suggestions and feedback. Here, experiences of participants can be important ‘boosters’ to your own teaching practices. This format provides an interactive and engaging conference experience. Searching for inspiration? The submission should include

  • a short abstract (max. 250 characters) and
  • an extended summary (max. 750 words) and
  • a response to the question: ‘How does your contribution on higher education generate an impact in the field?’ (max. 100 words).

Symposium

Focus: Scientific, practitioner

Description

These sessions will focus on one topic presented by experts from scientific and/or practitioner communities. They have the possibility to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities related to higher education. Symposia will include a short introduction (by the chair), three paper presentations and a discussion (by the discussant). Each presenter will get max. 20 minutes to present their work. Hereafter, a 30 min discussion will take place. The presenters and the discussant need to make a joint submission.

The submission should include

  • a short abstract for the symposium (max. 500 characters) and
  • an extended summary for the symposium (max. 750 words) and
  • three titles of the paper presentations and
  • a response to the question: ‘How does your contribution (symposium) on higher education generate an impact in the field?’ (max. 100 words) (answered for the entire symposium).

Workshop

Focus: Scientific, practitioner

Description

These hands-on sessions will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn and apply new techniques and strategies related to higher education. The focus of these sessions will be on both scientific and practitioner perspectives, with participants engaging in interactive activities and group discussions, and leaving with practical skills and knowledge that can be immediately applied in their educational work and practice. Workshops are scheduled for 90 minutes.

The submission should include

  • a short abstract (max. 250 characters) and
  • an extended summary (max. 750 words) and
  • a response to the question: ‘How does your contribution on higher education generate an impact in the field?’ (max. 100 words).

Posterpresentatie (Nederlands)

Focus: Wetenschappelijk, praktijkgericht

Beschrijving:

Deze sessie biedt onderzoekers, beleidsmakers, docenten en studenten de gelegenheid hun werk, resultaten en conclusies te presenteren. Presentatoren kunnen discussies aangaan met andere deelnemers. De focus van deze sessies ligt op zowel wetenschappelijke als praktische perspectieven. Alle postersessies worden samen georganiseerd tijdens een parallel tijdslot van 60 minuten.

De inzending moet het volgende bevatten:

  • een korte abstract (max. 250 karakters) en
  • een uitgebreide samenvatting (max. 750 woorden) en
  • een antwoord op de vraag: "Hoe genereert uw bijdrage over hoger onderwijs een impact in het veld?" (max. 100 woorden).

Praktisch

Het ideale formaat om je poster af te drukken is A1. Print uw poster bij voorkeur ook in kleur af. Posterpanelen worden voorzien.

Indien gewenst kan je je poster ook laten drukken en afhalen bij Drukpunt Hasselt. Dit ligt op wandelafstand van de campus (150 meter).

Praktijk boost (Nederlands)

Focus: Praktijk

Beschrijving:

In deze vorm delen presentatoren een goede praktijk, leggen uit hoe deze inspirerend kan zijn voor anderen en bespreken met suggesties en feedback hoe deze verder kan worden verbeterd. Hier kunnen de ervaringen van de deelnemers belangrijke 'boosters' zijn voor uw eigen onderwijspraktijk. Dit formaat zorgt voor een interactieve en boeiende conferentie-ervaring. Op zoek naar inspiratie? Doe mee aan deze sessie van 30 minuten en geef uw eigen praktijk een boost.

De inzending moet het volgende bevatten:

  • een korte abstract (max. 250 karakters) en
  • een uitgebreide samenvatting (max. 750 woorden) en
  • een antwoord op de vraag: "Hoe genereert uw bijdrage over hoger onderwijs een impact in het veld?" (max. 100 woorden).

When filled in, you have to upload this file (in pdf) in your submission in Conftool.

When submitting a contribution you will be asked to select a theme. The four themes are:

  • Civic Higher Education
  • Inclusive Higher Education
  • Student-Centred Higher Education
  • Future-Proof Higher Education

Assessment criteria

Each contribution will be reviewed by at least two experts in the field of education. The letters of acceptance might be expected in October 2023.

The criteria are the following:

  • Overall quality of research/practice and clarity of the proposal (50%)
  • Impact on educational theory, practice or policy in higher education (30%)
  • Relevance to the selected theme of submission (civic, inclusive, student-centred, future-proof higher education) (20%)

The submission deadline is June 15th, 2023.
The submission deadline for international submissions is September 15th, 2023.
Registration will be open from April 17th, 2023.
