By plane

If you are coming straight from an international airport, the easiest way is Brussels International Airport (Zaventem, Belgium, airline code BRU).

On arrival in the arrival’s hall of Brussels National Airport, take the elevator to the -1 level where you will find the train station. There, you can ask for information on trains to Hasselt (timetable can also be found online, from Brussels Airport; to Hasselt). You can buy your ticket in the station or online. For more information on train timetables, see “by train”.

If you prefer traveling by car, you can rent a car, share a car or use a taxi.

Other airport options are:

• Brussels Charleroi, which is located at 60 km from the heart of Brussels. Every hour a shuttle bus leaves the airport to take you to the main Brussels railway station (Brussels South). Shuttle tickets are sold inside the airport terminal (counter n° 1). The trip takes 1 hour.
• Liège airport, which is is about 45 km from Hasselt University. From Liège Guillemin railway station, you can take the train to Hasselt railway station. For more information on train timetables, see “by train”.
• Paris de Gaule (France) international airport, from there you can take the TGV to Brussels (1.5 hours) or rent a car (4 hours to Hasselt University campus Hasselt)
• Amsterdam (the Netherlands), from there you can take the TGV to Brussels or Antwerp (1.5 hours) or rent a car (2.5 hours to Hasselt University campus Hasselt)
• Frankfurt, Düsseldorf or Eindhoven.

By public transport

• By train
  From Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, Leuven and Liège, there are direct connections to the Limburg capital every hour, seven days a week. More information can be found on the website of the National Company of Belgian Railways.

  You have several options for getting to the campus from Hasselt railway station. Walking or biking are the quickest ways, but you can also take a bus or taxi from the station entrance to the Kolonel Dusartplein. The Boulevard shuttle ("Boulevardpendel"), which departs every 5 minutes, will take you to the Kolonel Dusartplein bus stop in around 8 minutes. Once you arrive at the Kolonel Dusartplein, follow the signs 'Faculty of Law' to reach the campus.

• By bus
  

  You can take express bus services from Maaseik, Lommel, Neerpelt, and Geel that regularly arrive at Hasselt station. There are also good connections from almost all municipalities in Limburg. The ‘Kolonel Dusartplein’ bus stop is close to Campus Hasselt. If you're traveling from the Diepenbeek campus, you can take lines 45, 20A, 36, or 11 to reach Kolonel Dusartplein. If you're coming from Genk Station, lines 1 and 45 will take you to the Kolonel Dusartplein. When you get off at Kolonel Dusartplein, follow the signs ‘Faculty of Law' to reach the campus.

  Another convenient option is the Boulevard Shuttle ("Boulevardpendel"), which departs every 5 minutes from Hasselt Station and takes you to the "Kolonel Dusartplein" bus stop in about 8 minutes.

By car

UHasselt resolutely opts for a sustainable mobility policy. We therefore advise you to travel by bike or public transport as much as possible. If you have no other option, Hasselt is easily accessible via the E313 (exits 27-28-29) and E314 (exit 29) motorways. There are lots of car parks in and around the city centre.

You can leave your car for free at one of the Park & Rides on the outskirts of the city and continue your journey by bus (from carpool parking Zuid and Parking H you can get to the city centre for 1 euro). Near the Hasselt campus, there are the underground paying car parks at Dusartplein (Parking Dusart) or Quartier Bleu (Parking Blauwe Boulevard). From the main ring road, follow the LED signs to these car parks. Free parking near Hasselt Campus is available at Koning Boudewijnlaan (Parking Boudewijnlaan).

By bike

Near the campus 'Old Prison' there is a covered bicycle parking on Koekerellenpad (path between the Old Prison and the green Rectorate building) and a bicycle parking on the courtyard of the Old Prison.

In the city of Hasselt, camera surveillance at the public bicycle parking is provided at the following locations:

• Station (in front of the station)
• Library - located near the campus
• Quartier Bleu (underground bicycle storage of Parking Blauwe Boulevard) - located a few minutes' walk from Hasselt campus
• Capucienenplein (situated on the Tweetorenwijk district)
• City Hall (Groenplein behind the city hall)
