Architecture, Memory and Emotion 
 
Architect and artist Tszwai So (Spheron Architects) explains the relationship of design processes with memory and emotion in his work, with a focus on two cases: the award-winning Belarusian Memorial Chapel in London and the Memorial for all victims of totalitarianism in Brussels. Furthermore, he highlights the importance of drawing and sketching in his work.

About Tszwai So

Architect and artist Tszwai So is a British-Hong Kong architect. He is best known for his Belarusian Memorial Chapel, which is the first wooden church built in London since the Great Fire in 1666.

His Memorial in Brussels entitled 'An Echo in Time' was the winning proposal in an EU-backed international competition. So's drawings for this competition were chosen as the First Prize Winner in the practitioners’ category from an entry of 1,000 images worldwide in the RIBA Journal International Drawing Competition, the Eye Line Award in 2018.

He is a strong proponent of Emotional Architecture – focusing on the emotional aspect of Architecture.

Outside of work he enjoys reading and drawing.
