dr. Martijn PETERS
Martijn Peters invites you to the public defense of his doctoral thesis entitled: "Functional PPV-based conjugated polymer nanoparticles as a versatile bioimaging probe".
Promoter is Prof. Dr. Tanja Junkers.
Co-promoters are Prof. Dr. Niels Hellings Prof Dr. Anitha Ethirajan.
In the past years a novel type fluorophore has arisen, nanoparticles constructed out of conjugated polymers. It is their unique combination of first-rate optical properties and excellent biocompatibility that makes them outstanding bioimaging probes. Unfortunately, an essential feature required for usage in biomedical applications, namely the ability to functionalize their surface, is still lacking for many conjugated polymer nanoparticles due to the absence of anchoring points. Hence this during his PhD work, Martijn Peters has focused to overcome this obstacle through the design of NP constructs out of recently developed functional poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) under the supervision of Prof T. Junkers (IMO), Prof A. Ethirajan (IMO) and Prof N. Hellings (BIOMED).
The defense will take place on the 15th of December on 15h in the H5. If you want to joint please e-mail a confirmation to firstname.lastname@example.org
