1. Interuniversity job market for young researchers, including online pre-program

After three successful editions, the 5 Flemish universities again organise an interuniversity job market for young researchers. The 2023 edition will be organised in Ghent (Flanders Expo) and will open its physical doors on March 23, 2023 (12:00-18:00). Registration is now possible! The live job fair will be preceded by an online preparatory pre-program, which includes CV checks and speed career coaching on March 9, as well as a number of Career Lunches hosted between February 7 and March 16. Registration for the online program is also open!

2. Doctoral schools mobility call 2 - 2023

Hasselt University encourages its junior researchers' international and intersectoral mobility and wants to promote (international) contacts between research groups. Thanks to the Flemish Government's financial support, Hasselt University doctoral schools can award travel grants to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers for participation in an international summer school or a short research stay abroad. Also, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers can be awarded intersectoral mobility grants for intersectoral summer schools or research projects conducted at and in collaboration with non-academic institutions (companies, hospitals, …). This second call for 2023 concerns the period May - December 2023. Deadline of submission is 12/03/2023 and the activity (summer school or research stay) needs to take place between 01/05/2023 and 31/12/2023. More information about the requirements, selection criteria, financial support and application procedure can be found online.

3. FLAMES annual meeting - Let citizens strengthen your research

The Flames Annual Meeting is an annual one-day symposium targeting hot topics of relevance to society and the place of statistics and methodology therein, at which prominent speakers will share their insights. This year, the FAM is hosted by Hasselt University and will take place on April 28, 2023. The topic of this hybrid symposium will be citizen science. Involving citizens in your research gives you new data, knowledge and perspectives. Next to that people become more aware of the research you are doing. However, there are also some challenges which we will tackle in our keynote lectures, such as dealing with ethnic differences, sharing and storing your data, and dealing with incorrect or imbalanced data. You will be able to learn from the experiences of fellow researchers and have the possibility to come into contact with SCIVIL to learn how they can support you in your citizen science project!

4. Pitch please events

5. Meet the jury seminars

Are you planning your doctoral defence in the near future? Does your jury consist of internationally renowned experts? Grab this opportunity to organize a lecture by one of your external jury members, open for PhD researchers from different research groups at UHasselt and in the wider Flanders region. You can apply for financial support to (partly) recover travel expenses. The selection criteria and procedure can be found here.
