1. Doctoral schools mobility call 3 - 2023

Hasselt University encourages its junior researchers' international and intersectoral mobility and wants to  promote (international) contacts between research groups. Thanks to the Flemish Government's financial support, Hasselt University doctoral schools can award travel grants to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers for participation in an international summer school or a short research stay abroad. Also, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers can be awarded intersectoral mobility grants for intersectoral summer schools or research projects conducted at and in collaboration with non-academic institutions (companies, hospitals, …). This third call for 2023 concerns the period September - December 2023. Deadline of submission is 20/08/2023 and the activity (summer school or research stay) needs to take place between 01/09/2023 and 31/12/2023. More information about the requirements, selection criteria, financial support and application procedure can be found online.

3. Job shadowing - save the date

With job shadowing, we want to offer PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year in PhD track) and postdocs the opportunity to observe a professional on the work floor for 1 or 2 days, and thus get a better view on the tasks and responsibilities that come with the role he/she takes up within a company/organization. As a junior researcher, this offers you a unique opportunity to test out, without further obligations, whether there is a match with a particular job and corporate culture. Opportunities offered by different companies and organisations will be advertised. The shadowing will take place between October 09 and 20, 2023. There will be a half-day preparatory training on October 3 (09:00-12:00) and a structured debrief on October 24 (09:00-12:00). Keep an eye on your mailbox, as more details will be sent in the week of July 10!

4. Meet the jury seminars

Are you planning your doctoral defence in the near future? Does your jury consist of internationally renowned experts? Grab this opportunity to organize a lecture by one of your external jury members, open for PhD researchers from different research groups at UHasselt and in the wider Flanders region. You can apply for financial support to (partly) recover travel expenses. The selection criteria and procedure can be found here.
