From April 15th to 17th the IRTAD 2026 Conference took place in Athens, Greece. The conference was organised by the International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group (IRTAD), NTUA and HITE, and was themed 'Better road safety data for better safety performance'.
Prof. Dr Tom Brijs and PhD students Akanksha Agarwal and Nimra Jabeen represented the IVORY doctoral network at the conference. IVORY is an industrial doctorates network, aiming to develop a new framework for the integration of AI in road safety.
Akanksha Agarwal participated with a poster paper, while Nimra Jabeen gave a presentation about the research being carried out within the framework of IVORY - ‘AI for Vision Zero in Road Safety’.
IVORY – ‘AI for Vision Zero in Road Safety’ is an industrial doctorates network, aiming to develop a new framework for the integration of AI in road safety and create a new generation of leading researchers in the field, in order to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals target 3.6 (halving the number of traffic fatalities by 2030) and EC ‘Vision Zero’ strategy (eliminating traffic fatalities by 2050).
