1. PhD Reflect & Connect: 'Failing forward: The untold stories of science'

Join us on June 19, 2025 (15:30-17:00) for an honest and inspiring session (followed by a reception until 18:00) about the role of failure in research. Hosted by the doctoral schools of Hasselt University and SciMingo, this event highlights real stories of experiments gone wrong, dead ends, and unexpected challenges — and how they help us grow as scientists. Come to listen, reflect, or even share your own story — anonymously or in person. Let’s celebrate the setbacks that make science real. Because failure isn’t just part of the process — it drives progress. Registration is possible until June 01, 2025.

2. Online career stories for (post)docs: DS Health & Life Sciences

"Received my doctoral degree. Where do I go from here? Why would I choose to do postdoctoral research?" On June 25, 2025 the doctoral schools organize an inspiring session with a specific focus on postdoctoral research and possible career paths. This event consists of 3 testimonials from speakers with a background in Health & Life Sciences, followed by a short panel session. Both postdoc holders who pursued a non-academic career and an academic career will tell you their personal story. The detailed programme can be found on our website and you can register here until June 9, 2025.
