What?
A new joint transnational call for project funding under the Horizon Europe Water4all partnership has been launched, focusing on water research.
This new transnational call addresses the thematic
‘Sustainable Water Management’. The call aims to support research projects working on at least one of the following topics:
- Topic 1: Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management.
- Topic 2: Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at hydrological and hydrogeological system scale.
- Topic 3: Smart, secure and adaptive water infrastructures.
- Topic 4: Resilient Water Systems Through Systemic Change, Policy Coherence and Inclusive governance.
The projects should start end 2027 - beginning 2028. Duration: 36 months.
Application via the FWO is possible via the channels of Junior and Senior Research projects (Fundamental Research) and SBO Projects (max. budget per project = 350.000 EUR, incl. overhead). The FWO will support 2 projects.
Who?
The full list of participating funding organisations has been published on
the website.
- Each consortium must be composed of at least three independent eligible partners from three different countries requesting funding from participating Funding Partner Organisations.
- In addition to the abovementioned condition, the projects must involve at least two independent legal entities from two different EU Member States or Horizon Europe associated countries as recipients of the financial support.
- The upper limit of eligible project partners per consortium is seven (including one self-funded partner, if any).
Each consortium participant will be funded by the Funding Organisation from its country/region participating in this joint transnational call. Participants are therefore subject to the eligibility criteria of national/regional funding organisations.
Each proposal must respect the general international and national/regional eligibility criteria.
This call will include an additional call modality aiming at
Early Career Researchers holding a Phd since less than 10 years. You can find more information in the Water4all 2026 JTC Call Announcement on the

The submission deadline for pre-proposals is the 10th of November 2026
Selection of pre-proposals: Early February 2027
Selected pre-proposals have to submit their full proposal by the 6th of April 2027.
