International alumni
Did you know that our Hasselt University alumni are represented all over the world and in as many as 60 countries?
Since our alumni are our best ambassadors we are happy to start with International Alumni Chapters of Hasselt University. In order to start this up, we are looking for enthusiastic alumni ambassadors around the world who want to develop and start up initiatives in their country or region that create, stimulate and strengthen the relations between students, alumni, researchers and people linked to Hasselt University.
As an ambassador you will be our international liaison in networking, representing Hasselt University internationally, providing us with advice and opportunities.

David Volders
"Interventional neuroradiology is an extraordinarily fascinating field"
In 2012, Doctor David Volders lost his heart to Vancouver. “The city, the surrounding nature, and the people – Canadians are among the nicest people I know. I knew there and then that if I ever got the chance to live and work there, I would grab it with both hands,” the UHasselt alumnus says with a laugh. Four years later, he left for Canada to pursue a fellowship in interventional neuroradiology. Today, he is an associate professor, neuroradiology program director, and the head of the Interventional Neuroradiology sub-section at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, where he is training the next generation of superspecialists.

Hi there, nice to meet you!
Together with the alumni groups of our faculties and Schools, we want to connect all alumni of the Economic University College (EHL), the Limburg University Center (LUC), the transnational University Limburg (tUL) and UHasselt in one community.
Building, maintaining and strengthening contacts between Hasselt University and its alumni and between the alumni themselves is our goal. Our rector Prof. Dr. Bernard Vanheusden would also like to welcome you.
What can we do for you?
- You will be part of our Alumni Community with more than 25.000 alumni
- You stay up to date with all the news about Hasselt University
- You stay in touch with your former fellow students and faculty. Relive those strong stories and those good times at Hasselt University

Alumni Closing Party 50 years of Hasselt University on November 24th, 2023
50 years of Hasselt University...50 years of Alumni Classes ... friendships were strengthened, new friendships were sealed with snacks, drinks and some solid dancing.

50 years UHasselt - 50 years alumni
What began in 1973 as a great adventure has grown into Hasselt University 50 years later, thanks in part to you, our alumni. What started here is changing the world, also thanks to you, and we are very proud of that.
All over the world, alumni are celebrating the 50th anniversary of UHasselt. Each with his or her story and memories of an unforgettable student time on campus Diepenbeek or Hasselt.

What can you do?
Hasselt University has an active alumni community. Hopefully, your student life at Campus
Diepenbeek or Campus Hasselt was unforgettable, hopefully you have made friends for life here and
in the meantime, you have even started a successful career.
Alumni are very important to us, we would love to know how you are doing and, if possible, we
would love to see our international alumni back at campus Diepenbeek or campus Hasselt. (So…if you're in town, be sure to pop in and say hello).
How do our alumni contribute? You can also help us by:
- Being available as a guest speaker at one of our many events;
- Thinking critically about the quality assurance of our bachelor and master programs;
- Sharing internships and graduation projects within the alumni community;
- Participate in activities aimed at student recruitment
- Active involvement in international alumni chapters
- Sharing your story with us
- Support research and education through the University Fund Hasselt University
