We kindly invite you to join the ‘Meet the Jury’ seminar, featuring international speakers to discuss their research on 'Experiential Evaluation and Participatory Design'.

This seminar will be given by:

  • Brian Dixon
    Brian Dixon is Belfast School of Art’s Research Director for Art and Design (UoA32), as well as Course Director for MA UX and Service Design, a programme he established in 2021. Alongside this, he is also Co-Investigator on the AHRC-funded Design Innovation and Land Assets project, which forms part of the UKRI’s Landscape Decisions Programme.

    He received his PhD from Central Saint Martins, investigating how digital maps could be designed to support urban tourists’ and walkers’ situation awareness. His research interests now span a number of domains, including: design philosophy; contemporary design research methodologies; and the potential role of design in policy-making and community-based decision-making.

  • Chiara Bassetti
    Chiara Bassetti is Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento. An ethnographer and ethnomethodologist, often working in interdisciplinary teams, she is interested in social interaction, cultural phenomena and collaborative practices. She explored collaboration in several contexts including grassroots initiatives for socio-economic innovation, performing arts, and the workplace.

  • Tim Devos
    Tim Devos is professor at the Centre for Mobility and Spatial Planning (AMRP) at Ghent University. After working as a researcher for ‘Steunpunt Ruimte & Wonen’ at the Department of Urban planning & Architecture at KULeuven, he completed his PhD research at the Social Geography Department at KU Leuven, focusing on participation and co-production in spatial planning processes.

    Tim has a research interest in socio-spatial issues, participatory planning and the role of the urban planner, designer in a changing field. He co-founded and manages Endeavour, a team of architects, urban planners, and social scientists that aims to make the way we design and plan our cities more inclusive and sustainable through research and innovation.
