You will make a contribution to the educational activities within the Bachelor of Physics program, as well as in the recently established two-year Master in Materiomics. You are expected to (co)coordinate courses, develop lecture material and contribute to teaching activities. You will further supervise internships and thesis projects, and you will mentor students. Innovation in education is expected, aligned with the current educational concepts of the Faculty of Sciences and Hasselt University. You will train PhD researchers and launch project proposals to establish their funding.
You will initiate and carry out innovative research, widening current activities of the capacity group in the field of low temperature diamond CVD by combined experimental and theoretical approaches, including the research on flexible 2D diamond structures (membranes) and diamond based power-electronic devises. You will work with the MW PE CVD diamond technique, in particular using asurface-wave plasma type reactor, and build an understanding on low temperature CVD diamond synthesis on various non-diamond materials. You will explore the topic of diamond nanomembranes, from fundamental understanding to their applications in various fields. It is expected that the different research lines will be complemented by employing the finite element analysis technique. You will also build strong links to both, international and local research groups as well as industrial partners.
You promote the social relevance of research and education within the framework of the civic mission of Hasselt University.
You show organizational commitment and contribute to the objectives of the department, the institute and the faculty.
The Faculty of Science, the capacity group of physics of Hasselt University seeks an temporary part time assistant professor in experimental and computational physics of CVD diamond deposited at low temperature and diamond nanomembranes. As an academic member with experience and expertise, you will be part of the WBGM research group and will be engaged in experimental and computational research focusing strongly on chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and doping of diamond at low temperature, diamond coatings on various non-diamond substrates, as well as diamond nanomembranes and power-electronic devices. The research program is in line with the research objectives of Hasselt University and in particular those of the institute IMO-IMOMEC. As a member of the capacity group physics, you will contribute to the education in the Bachelor of Physics and Masters of Materiomics.
We will offer an appointment in the grade of lecturer, on a temporary basis. The end date of the appointment is September 30th 2024. Extension is possible on conditon that funding is available.
The selection procedure consists of a preselection based on application file, an interview and a test lesson / presentation.
During the selection interview, a short trial lesson (20 min) is requested.
