Teaching assistant Statistics (10%)

Your function

As a teaching assistant, you support the practice-related educational tasks within the Master of Statistics and Data Science at Hasselt University. In collaborations with the coordinators of the course units, you organize work sessions to support the students in the master’s program. In addition, you contribute to the follow-up of distance learning students, and to organize online discussion forums. The exact education package is determined in consultation with the Educational Management Team (OMT) of the program.

Your team

As a teaching assistant, you are involved in the education of the Master in Statistics within the department of Mathematics and Statistics. You are part of the teaching team in the Center for Statistics.
The faculty of Science and the department of Mathematics and Statistics focus on high-quality education with a unique combination of scientific knowledge, new insights into the world and skills that are truly useful later in the students’ careers. We let students discover the world and teach them skills that they need to help shape the future. 

Your talents

  • You have obtained a master degree in Statistics (or equivalent)
    Final-year students are (likewise) encouraged to apply.
  • You are a team player and can work well in a team.

  • You enjoy teaching and are able to arouse students' enthusiasm.
  • You have good organisational skills.

  • You are fluent in written and oral communication.

  • You have a good knowledge of English.
  • When taking on a teaching assignment as coordinating lecturer or co-lecturer, you must master the language of instruction of the program component at CEFR level C1 and Dutch (the administrative language of Hasselt University) at least at CEFR level B2. You have a maximum of years from your appointment to achieve the required level for Dutch as an administrative language. You can take language classes as support.

Our offer for you

You will be appointed and paid as Teaching assistant.
An initial appointment is foreseen for a period of one year. An extension of the mandate is possible following a positive evaluation.
