The Digital Europe programme (DIGITAL) aims to support the digital transition in the EU by fostering the uptake of digital technologies by businesses, citizens and public administration and enhancing digital skills of the workforce. DIGITAL is structured around different special objectives.
Special objective 1 - High Performance Computing: DIGITAL aims to build up the EU’s supercomputing and data processing capacities, reaching extremely high computational power that are able to solve hugely complex and demanding problems. Budget: 2.227 bn EUR
Special objective 2 - AI, data & cloud: Unleashing the potential of data through innovative secure and energy efficient cloud to edge technology and trustful AI technologies is of strategical importance for Europe. Budget: 2.062 bn EUR
Special objective 3 - Cybersecurity: The European Union aims to promote cyber resilience, safeguarding communication and data and keeping online society and economy secure. Budget: 1.650 bn EUR
Special objective 4 - Advanced digital skills: The European Commission aims to tackle the digital skills gap and promote projects and strategies to improve the level of digital skills in Europe. Budget: 0.577 bn EUR
Special objective 5 - Deployment: accelerating best use of technologies: Ensuring a wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society will contribute to reaching the EU’s ambition of the twin digital and green transition. Budget: 1.072 bn EUR
DIGITAL will fund projects in a broad range of topics and addresses a large group of different stakeholders such as SMEs, higher education and research institutions, public administrations and companies.
