What?

The 2023 Lasker Awards, Worth €250,000 Each, Open for Nominations on 1 November

The Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation is an American non-profit organisation dedicated to improving health by accelerating support for medical research through recognition of research excellence, advocacy and education. The Foundation celebrates scientists, clinicians and public servants who have made major advances in the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure or prevention of human disease. The Foundation also runs educational programmes to promote scientific collaboration to the public.

The Lasker Awards have been awarded annually since 1945 to living persons who have made major contributions to medical science or who have performed public service on behalf of medicine.

Who?

For 2023, the following three Lasker Awards are available:
  • Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award: For a fundamental discovery that opens up a new area of biomedical science.
  • Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award: For a major advance that improves the lives of many thousands of people.
  • Lasker-Koshland Special Achievement Award in Medical Science: For research accomplishments and scientific statesmanship that engender the deepest feelings of awe and respect.
Each award winner will receive a prize of €250,000.

Scientists from around the world are eligible for nomination.

Nominations for these awards will open on 1 November 2022 and close on 6 February 2023.
