What?
TOURNESOL is a scientific exchange program supported by FWO and the Embassy of France in Brussels. The goal of TOURNESOL is to further sustain and expand the collaboration between Flanders and France. The program offers travel grants for junior researchers in the framework of scientific projects. The duration of the projects is 2 years and the funding covers travel and accommodation expenses of junior researchers with a maximum of 2.000 euros per project per year (on the Flemish and French sides).
Who?
The proposal has to be submitted by a principal investigator (PI) of the Flemish research team. The PI holds a PhD and has, throughout the entire period of the project, an appointment of at least 50% at a Flemish University, a Flemish or federal scientific institute, a university hospital, or a hospital with an academic character in Flanders.
Note that the PI of the Flemish research team can have a maximum of 12 years of postdoctoral seniority.
At the Flemish side, only predoctoral researchers or postdoctoral researchers can make use of the funding to travel to France.
Application?
The principal investigator (PI) of the Flemish research team submits the proposal by sending an e-mail to interprog@fwo.be. You can download the application form on the
FWO website.
The proposal must be submitted simultaneously to FWO and at Campus France.
The results will be announced beginning December 2023, projects start on the 1
st of January 2024. Please be aware that all members (PI's and other participants) of the French and Flemish research team should have an account on the FWO e-portal and keep their publication list up to date.
